Single Harvest Farming โ€” Fastest Way to Make Money in Garden Horizons

The fastest money-making method on day one and early game: focus exclusively on single-harvest seeds, buy out the shop every 5 minutes, and always sell at Lush. Step-by-step progression from Carrot to Cabbage.

Single-harvest seeds are the fastest path to Shillings in Garden Horizons โ€” especially early game. They grow quickly, sell for a lot at Lush, and let you reinvest constantly. This guide walks you through the exact strategy to snowball your income from your first Carrots all the way to end-game Cabbages.

๐Ÿ’ก TL;DR โ€” the core loop

Buy single-harvest seeds โ†’ fill your plot โ†’ wait for Lush โ†’ sell โ†’ immediately reinvest in better seeds. Repeat every 5 minutes at each seed shop restock. This loop compounds faster than any other strategy.

Why Single Harvest Seeds?

Garden Horizons has two types of seeds: single harvest (plant once, harvest once, sell once) and multi-harvest (regrows after each pick). For fast cash early on, single harvest wins โ€” they grow faster, have higher base prices per seed, and let you reinvest capital quickly.

Multi-harvest plants like Mushroom and Strawberry are great for passive income over time, but they don't catapult you into higher seed tiers as fast. Save them for later when your plot has room to spare.

Multi HarvestMushroom, Strawberry, Rose, Apple, Plum๐Ÿ“ˆ Passive income over time โ€” great mid/late game

The Seed Progression Ladder

As you earn Shillings, work your way up this ladder. Each jump dramatically increases your per-session income. Don't skip rungs โ€” save enough to buy multiple seeds of the next tier so your plot stays full.

SeedBuy PriceLush Sell (est.)When to Switch
CarrotCarrot20 ๐Ÿ’ฐ~136 ๐Ÿ’ฐStart here โ€” day one
OnionOnion200 ๐Ÿ’ฐ~900 ๐Ÿ’ฐAfter 3โ€“5 Carrot loops
BeetrootBeetroot2,500 ๐Ÿ’ฐ~11,250 ๐Ÿ’ฐAs soon as you can fill the plot
WheatWheat12,000 ๐Ÿ’ฐ~100,000 ๐Ÿ’ฐMid-game โ€” huge jump
CabbageCabbage150,000 ๐Ÿ’ฐ~1,000,000 ๐Ÿ’ฐEnd game โ€” ultimate goal

โ„น๏ธ Beetroot is the turning point

The jump from Onion (~900 ๐Ÿ’ฐ Lush) to Beetroot (~11,250 ๐Ÿ’ฐ Lush) is the biggest income leap in the early game. Get there as fast as possible โ€” every loop brings you closer.

The 5-Minute Seed Shop Cycle

Bill's seed shop restocks every 5 minutes. This is also when weather changes. Your entire farming rhythm should revolve around this cycle:

1

Check what's in stock โ€” buy everything useful

When the shop restocks, buy out every single-harvest seed you can afford. Priority order: highest value per seed first. If Beetroot is available, buy Beetroot before Onions. If Onions are available, buy Onions before Carrots.
2

Plant immediately โ€” fill every tile

Plant all your seeds the moment you buy them. An empty plot tile is lost Shillings. Dense planting also means more chances for weather mutations to hit your crops.
3

Check the weather โ€” plant timing matters

Glance at the sky. If Rain, Snow, Thunderstorm, or Starfall is active, plant your most valuable seeds right now โ€” they'll receive a mutation bonus. Never waste premium seeds during Sunny weather if a better event is seconds away.
4

Wait for Lush โ€” never sell early

Patience is the most profitable skill in this game. A Lush plant sells for 3ร— its base price. Selling early is leaving two-thirds of the money on the table. At minimum wait for Ripened (2ร—). Always aim for Lush.
5

Sell to Steve โ€” reinvest 100%

Harvest and sell everything Lush. Immediately take all Shillings back to Bill and buy the next tier of seeds. Don't sit on currency โ€” plants in the ground earn money, Shillings in your pocket don't.

Don't Harvest During Active Weather

This is one of the most valuable tips in the game: if weather is active, don't harvest. Every plant in your plot has a chance to gain a mutation during the weather event. The longer it sits in the ground during weather, the more mutations can stack.

Mutations are additive multipliers on top of Lush. A Lush Carrot with Soaked + Flooded (from Rain) is worth 4ร— more than a plain Lush Carrot. Don't harvest that away โ€” let the mutations spread.

โš ๏ธ Exception: sell if you need cash for the restock

If a rare seed (Beetroot, Wheat) just appeared in the shop and you can't afford it, sell your ready plants immediately to buy it. A higher-tier seed beats waiting for an extra mutation on a lower-tier plant.

Quests โ€” Free Seed Packs

Always check your daily and weekly quests. Many are tied to actions you're already doing โ€” harvesting Carrots, planting Onions, selling plants. Completing them rewards you with Gardener or Dawn Seed Packs, which can contain rare exclusive plants.

Quest TypeExample RewardHow to complete
DailyGardener Seed PackHarvest X amount of a specific plant โ€” usually Carrots or Mushrooms
WeeklyShillings bonusLonger goals: harvest 10+ of specific plants, earn X Shillings total

๐Ÿ’ก Quests align with the farming loop

Most quests ask you to do exactly what you'd be doing anyway โ€” harvesting Carrots, planting Onions, selling crops. Check the quest board every session and grab free rewards.

Redeem Your Codes

On launch day, two codes were available giving you a free Shilling boost to start:

  • RELEASE โ€” 1,000 Shillings. Available to all players.
  • DAWN โ€” bonus reward for players who joined the Garden Horizons group before launch.

More codes are added regularly. Check the Codes page for the latest active codes.

Key Rules to Remember

  • โœ“
Always sell at Lush (3ร—): Never sell Unripe unless you desperately need cash for a better seed right now.
  • โœ“
Buy out the shop every restock: Idle Shillings earn nothing. Plants in the ground always do.
  • โœ“
Single harvest first: Focus on Carrot, Onion, Beetroot, Wheat, Cabbage โ€” in that order.
  • โœ“
Don't harvest during weather: Let mutations stack. They multiply your Lush value significantly.
  • โœ“
Get the Watering Can early: Watering Can from Molly speeds up growth โ€” faster Lush = more loops per session.
  • โœ“
Check quests every session: Free Seed Packs and Shilling bonuses from daily/weekly quests add up fast.

๐Ÿ’ก Next steps

Once you're consistently farming Beetroot or Wheat, add mutation timing to your sessions. Read the Weather & Farming Strategy guide to learn exactly when to plant for Starstruck (6.5ร—) and Shocked (4.5ร—) bonuses.
