How to Get Lush in Garden Horizons — Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Lush (3×) is the most important mechanic in Garden Horizons. This guide explains exactly how to reach Lush, how long it takes per plant, and how to protect your investment.

Lush is the most important variant in Garden Horizons. A Lush plant sells for 3× its base value, making it the cornerstone of every efficient farming strategy. This guide explains exactly how the Lush mechanic works, how long it takes, and how to protect your investment once you get there.

What is Lush?

Every plant in Garden Horizons has a variant level that determines its sell multiplier. The variant progression is:

VariantMultiplierNotes
🟤 UnripeFreshly planted — lowest value
🟡 RipenedMid-stage — worth holding
🟢 LushFull ripeness — primary target
Silver×2Color variant — multiplicative (Silver Lush = ×6)
🟡 Gold×5Color variant — multiplicative (Gold Lush = ×15)
🌈 RainbowTBAColor variant — multiplier TBA

Lush (3×) is the goal for every farming session. Silver, Gold, and Rainbow are advanced color variants beyond Lush that require additional conditions — most players target Lush first and build from there.

How the Ripening Process Works

Plants ripen over time after reaching maturity. Since the v1.2.0 Console Update (March 7, 2026), ripening progresses both online AND offline — your plants ripen even when you are logged out. Previously ripening was online-only, but this is no longer the case.

The progression goes: Unripe → Ripened → Lush. The time required depends on the plant species. Faster crops like Carrot reach Lush quickly; premium crops like Beetroot take much longer but reward you with a far higher base price once Lush.

💡 Ripening works offline since v1.2.0!

Ripening now progresses while you are offline. Plant your seeds, log off, and come back when enough time has passed. Fast crops like Carrot reach Lush quickly; premium crops like Beetroot or Apple take longer but reward more.

Ripening Time by Plant

Below are the confirmed ripening time estimates for plants with known data. Times are approximate and may be refined as more player data is collected.

PlantBase Price 💰Base WeightLush Price Est. 💰Session Length
CarrotCarrot300.07 kg~90Short (15–20 min)
CornCorn150.18 kg~45Short (15–20 min)
MushroomMushroom400.03 kg~120Short–Medium

Apple2700.19 kg~810Medium (30–45 min)
BeetrootBeetroot2,0000.09 kg~6,000Long (45+ min)

ℹ️ Weight matters too

Base weight affects the final sell price — heavier plants sell for more. The exact weight formula is still being documented, but plants with higher base weight receive a significant bonus at harvest. Apple (0.19 kg) and Corn (0.18 kg) benefit most from this.

Using the Favoriting Tool

The Favoriting Tool is one of the most important pieces of gear in Garden Horizons. It allows you to mark specific plants on your plot. Favorited plants:

  • Are visually highlighted so you can track them at a glance
  • Are protected from accidental mass harvests
  • Make it easy to identify which plants are closest to Lush

Buy the Favoriting Tool from Molly as soon as you can afford it. It pays for itself immediately by preventing the frustrating mistake of harvesting a nearly-Lush plant too early.

Protecting Your Investment

Once a plant is close to or at Lush, it is worth protecting carefully:

1

Favorite it immediately

The moment a plant reaches Ripened stage, use the Favoriting Tool to mark it. This prevents accidental harvests during a busy session.
2

Watch the weather before harvesting

If Starfall or Thunderstorm is about to begin, wait. Harvesting a Lush plant right before a 6.5× Starstruck mutation event is a costly mistake. Hold until you get the mutation or the event passes.
3

Avoid harvesting mid-session

Plan your harvest at the end of a farming session rather than during it. Harvesting early resets your ripening progress — you cannot partially ripen a new plant.

Is Lush Always Worth Waiting For?

Short answer: yes. The 3× Lush multiplier is so impactful that for nearly every plant, waiting is the right decision. Consider:

PlantSold at UnripeSold at LushDifference
CarrotCarrot30 💰~90 💰+60 💰 (+200%)
OnionOnion220 💰~660 💰+440 💰 (+200%)
BeetrootBeetroot2,000 💰~6,000 💰+4,000 💰 (+200%)

The only exception is if you desperately need Shillings mid-session to buy more seeds and cannot wait. Otherwise, always let plants reach Lush before selling.

💡 Lush + Mutation = maximum value

Lush gives 3× ripening. Adding a Starstruck mutation (6.5×) on top creates extraordinary value. A Lush Beetroot with Starstruck is worth roughly 2,000 × 6.5 × 3 = 39,000 💰 — see the Mutations Guide for exact formulas.
